Iran can attack American military bases with the help of Chinese satellite images

According to US intelligence, Iran may use artificial intelligence-enhanced satellite images to target US military bases in the Middle East region, reported the ABC News. The technology that makes this possible comes from a Chinese company called MizarVision, which uses automated object recognition to identify bases, equipment and infrastructure. The system can do all this in minutes.
The Interesting Engineering reported that US defense officials see the solution as increasing Iran’s combat capabilities and putting US troops and equipment at greater risk. And using an artificial intelligence tool developed by a private company could reduce the US strategic advantage of surveillance and precision weapons for the US military.
MizarVision is a partially state-owned Chinese company that provides high-resolution satellite imagery with AI-generated annotations of military assets, infrastructure and logistics centers. The system can detect aircraft, fortified shelters, fuel depots, radar systems and soldiers, all over a large area.

The paper notes: previously only the intelligence service could obtain such data, but now private companies have appeared on the market that offer customers this information on a tray.
MizarVision uses machine learning, and the system can automatically classify objects based on their shape, thermal pattern, and environmental context. During tagging, specific objects are also provided with geospatial metadata that allows the information to be easily integrated into targeting and command systems.
Thanks to this, Iran can more precisely target American military installations – radars, headquarters, devices – which can weaken the US military power in Iran.
