How to Add Dropbox (or other cloud services) to Windows Send to Menu

If you’ve added dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and iCloud Drive to files and receive secure files, you can add them to Window Send to Menu

If you use Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and iCloud Drive to share and back up files, you can add them to the Send to Windows shortcut menu to move files faster.

We’ll show you how to add these features to the Send shortcut menu in File Explorer (or Windows Explorer in Windows 7) so you can quickly send files from your computer to cloud accounts. Here we use Dropbox as an example, but the same procedure works for Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, and most cloud services that create a sync folder on your computer.

  1. Open File Explorer, type the following path in the File Explorer address bar, and then press Enter:

% APPDATA% Microsoft Windows SendTo

2. To add Dropbox, you must install the Dropbox desktop client on your computer in the Send menu if you haven’t done so yet. After you install Dropbox, you should see a Dropbox sync folder in File Explorer. You may need to scroll down the left pane to view it. Make sure you don’t click any other folder or drive in the left panel.

3. When you add Google Drive or iCloud Drive, you also need to install these desktop clients. If you’re running Windows 10 or 8.1, OneDrive is included. If you’re using Windows 7, you’ll need to install the OneDrive desktop client.

4. Right-click and hold down the Dropbox folder in the left pane of File Explorer, and then drag it to the SendTo folder.

5. When you release the mouse button, you’ll see ways to move, copy, or create a shortcut. Create a shortcut, so choose “Create shortcuts here” on the pop-up menu.

6. In Windows 10, “Shortcut” is added to the shortcut, and we prefer to enter only the name of the cloud service. To change the shortcut name, select the shortcut file, and then press F2. Then change the name and press Enter. Windows 7 does not add “Shortcut” to the end of the file name of the shortcut.

7. Google Drive, OneDrive, and iCloud Drive can be added to your SendTo menu folder just as much if they’re not already there. If you have other sync folders for other cloud services, you can add them the same way.

8. Now, when you right-click a file or folder, you can send it to the Dropbox folder or to google drive, onedrive, or iCloud Drive.

9. If you want to send a file or folder to a specific folder in your Dropbox account (or other cloud service account), you can add that folder to the Send menu. In our example, we add the HTGArticles folder from our Dropbox account to the SendTo shortcut menu folder in the same way as the main cloud services folders.

10. Now, when you want to send a file or folder to your Dropbox account folder, right-click the file or folder, and then click the folder name on the Send shortcut menu. You can also add folders from other cloud services, such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or iCloud Drive.
