iOS 16.3 has arrived

As promised last week, today Apple released iOS 16.3. The new update includes many bug fixes and some innovations, we will quickly list them below!

It doesn’t matter which part of the world you live in, since Apple software updates are not phased, you can safely check your device, because iOS 16.3 is probably already available for it. The new version already includes a feature called Security Keys for Apple ID, which enables physical two-factor authentication during Apple ID logins. Yes, if you like, you can get a regular key and you can unlock the phone with it.

After installing the update, the iPhone will also receive a new Unity wallpaper and support for the recently introduced second-generation HomePod, the latter of which does not affect us so much, because for some reason the smart speaker is not available here. The manufacturer has refined the emergency function a bit to avoid accidental calls in the future. From now on, you can activate the SOS call by pressing and holding the side button and the volume down or up button, which only starts after releasing the buttons.

Then, of course, there are fixes, for example, they fixed the bug in Freeform that caused the strokes created with a finger or Apple Pencil to not appear on shared boards, they fixed the blackening of the wallpaper on the lock screen, and also a solution to the horizontal lines visible when waking up the iPhone 14 Pro Max the developers found. From now on, we are no longer threatened by the error that the widget on the Home app’s lock screen does not show the exact status, installing the update will in principle remedy this as well.

There was a bug due to which Siri did not respond properly to music requests, and it did not understand certain requests when using CarPlay, and this does not threaten users from now on. Apple has thought of those who are still using iOS 15 at the moment, they have released iOS 15.7.3, and those who have much older devices and are stuck with iOS 12, iOS 12.5.7 is available. In terms of their nature, both are security updates, so you should install them as soon as possible.

One more tidbit: watchOS version 9.3 is now available, including a new watch face, some performance and bug fixes. Its installation can be managed via the Apple Watch app via the paired iPhone.
