Last night’s PlayStation Showcase showed the gameplay of God of War: Ragnarök, with the trailer showing many elements and characters from the gameplay and storyline. However, the big missing was Thor, who we suspect would play an important role in the sequel since the previous GoW, but the trailer only features his hammer and his voice. But that’s okay because they also shared some game pictures with the characters posing, including the god of lightning, who doesn’t look like Chris Hemsworth. I mean, if we’re not talking about the tummy version of the guy who’s insulting NoobMaster69 at Fortnite.
This in-game version of Thor has long red hair and a red beard, but that makes his huge belly much more prominent, which he doesn’t hide at all. Ragnarök director Eric Williams said at the end of the performance that this interpretation was no accident, that their Thor would be a “big, full-bodied, hedonistic, male-clad child.” His voice is voiced by Ryan Hurst, who played Harry ‘Opie’ Winston in The Hard Bikers series.

There have also been pictures of other characters, mostly the characters that survived in the previous episode, and a dwarf named Durlin (?), the local god of war, Tyr, who was mentioned a lot in the previous part, and Angbroda, who was “one of the last giants,” who was shown at the very end of the trailer, although it is still quite small. It’s probably no coincidence that he’s as old as Atreus, but it would be a spoiler to explain, if you’re interested, look for who this character is in Northern mythology. Williams also revealed that Odin would be in the game, voiced by Richard Schiff, best known to The President’s men.
God of War: Ragnarök will be released sometime next year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
