US bans the Israeli manufacturer of Pegasus Spyware

The government says the NSO poses a threat to the country from spyware.

The United States is blacklisting Pegasus spyware maker NSO, the AP said .

The Guardian writes that Joe Biden’s government says the software maker’s actions run counter to U.S. foreign policy and national security interests and could threaten the country, which is why the NSO has been banned.

According to the Commerce Department, the decision is part of the Biden-Harris government’s efforts to put human rights at the heart of U.S. foreign policy, including “stopping the spread of digital devices used for repression”.

The ministry said three other companies in addition to the NSO had been blacklisted, the Guardian does not name them.

The ban means that UFOs will not be able to purchase devices, parts from U.S. companies, or stop selling software in the country.

The NSO has not yet responded to the ban.
