Apple’s first bendable mobile phone, the iPhone Fold, may be delayed by months

Apple may have faced more problems than expected in the development of the first bendable iPhone, which may also affect the date of the device’s launch, reports the Nikkei.

According to the portal’s sources, the problems occurred in the early stages of the device’s test production, and because of this, the first deliveries may be delayed by months. “The situation could jeopardize the mass production schedule,” one source said, noting that April is an important period for technical verification tests. Apple is said to have already notified component suppliers about the problem, saying that the production schedule for the bendable iPhone will be delayed, and that they are currently working on solving the problems.

Like that Engadget points out, the bendable iPhone – referred to as Fold – has been on the agenda since 2017, but Samsung was well ahead of the manufacturer by launching the Galaxy Fold in 2019.

According to several sources, Apple’s goal was to present the device in the fall of 2026, alongside the iPhone 16 series, but this did not happen in the end. The presentation in September 2027 may now be jeopardized by another problem, so its launch may be delayed further.
