CD Projekt RED has confirmed that a new The Witcher game is in the works, running on Unreal Engine 5.
CD Projekt RED has revealed today on their website, which we can see here, that a new saga based on The Witcher will be released based on the recently released Unreal Engine 5, a new gaming engine that builds on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 to achieve a new-generation engine.
This new game results from a new partnership with Epic Games, so Unreal Engine 5 will be utilized instead of REDengine, which was used in games like Cyberpunk 2077. According to the company, the forthcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion will be based on REDengine.
While this new title will assist Epic Games in fine-tuning the engine to run better open-world experiences, there is currently no specific data, such as a release date or a development timeframe, on which to base predictions.
Fans of The Witcher will be ecstatic to hear this news. However, it should be emphasized that distinct elements may alter significantly because this is a new story and not a continuation of the previous one.
