Netflix is experimenting with transferring profiles to new accounts.

Netflix is exploring a new account management system that would allow users to move their profiles to other accounts, which may seem weird given its business model and efforts to prevent users from fraudulently exploiting accounts.

For instance, a profile within a family plan that becomes separated from the actual setting in which it is discovered to live individually may still want to utilize Netflix, which is where this profile transfer functionality comes in. Recommendations, watching history, and personal lists would all be transmitted.

This novelty would reduce the sharing of passwords. Netflix has been trying to concentrate on getting users to have as many subscriptions as possible, which naturally increases the company’s profits.

In many cases, it will also be a generally valuable functionality and not just as another tool to make it easier for users to contract additional subscriptions instead of sharing existing ones among friends.
