The RTX 3080 12GB would be announced this coming January 11
Rumors keep coming in about the RTX 3080 12GB, and as usual, they never quite agree. First, it was said to be launched together with the RTX 3070 Ti 16GB in December, then it was postponed indefinitely, and now WCCFTech assures that it will be announced this Tuesday, January 11, at 11 am in Argentina.
It is not yet clear if the graphic will be available that same day or if only pre-sales will begin for later delivery; although they will be able to start booking that same day, we will see their first-day prices in the market.
This announcement is somewhat curious since Nvidia held its CES conference last Tuesday, and it was the perfect time to announce it due to the amount of public who saw the event.
Even so, there is the possibility that Nvidia is clear that it is an announcement that can bring several criticisms for not having launched the RTX 3080 with these specifications from the beginning. Perhaps they did not want to mix the controversy that this RTX can generate 3080 12GB with the RTX 3050 and RTX 3090 Ti ads.
What is known about this new card?
In addition to expanding its memory to 12GB of GDDR6 memory, the RTX 3080 12GB will also increase its bus from 320 bits to 384 bits to support this extra memory, increasing its bandwidth by 20%, which will help to get better performance.
Its number of cores is also expected to increase from 8,704 to 8960, and its TDP to increase from 320W to 350W. This information is based on rumors, so we will have to wait for its official announcement to confirm it.
