Top upcoming feature on WhatsApp: Lock individual conversations for added security

WhatsApp, the popular messaging app owned by Meta, is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to close individual conversations. This feature is designed to provide an extra layer of security, as it will only allow access to the most confidential chats after some kind of identification access, such as scanning your face or fingerprint, or with a passcode.

The closed conversations will also have a separate interface, so they will not appear among the others. Additionally, the feature ensures that media files in such conversations are not removed; they cannot be downloaded automatically, as in the case of normal chats.

According to Webetainfo, a platform that tracks changes in WhatsApp updates, the feature is already in development and will be rolled out to users soon. The new feature will be especially useful for those who want to protect their private conversations from unauthorized access, even if their device falls into the wrong hands.

WhatsApp is known for prioritizing the security and privacy of its users, and this latest update is another step in that direction. The feature is still in the testing phase, but it is expected to be available to all users in the near future.

It is currently unclear when the upcoming WhatsApp feature will be released in its stable version. In December 2022, WhatsApp added a security feature that allows messages, photos, and videos to disappear after a single viewing.
