Official Redmi Watch 2
Not only were smartphones unveiled at Redmi’s latest event, but a brand new smartphone and a wallet-friendly wireless headset were also unveiled in the company of the Note 11 series. Let’s take a brief look at the Redmi Watch 2 and Redmi Buds 3 Youth Edition.
Redmi Watch 2
The Chinese manufacturer’s engineers managed to cut the frames around the clock display somewhat, so the diagonal increased slightly, this time to 1.6 inches instead of 1.4. Another significant advancement is that there is now an organic panel on the watch.
The IPS LCD was not a tragedy either, but the vibrant colors and perfect viewing angles of AMOLED technology significantly improve the user experience of wearable devices. The resolution of the display is 360 x 320 pixels.
They have also improved the device’s operating time, and now it can last up to 12 days on a single charge. The previous generation had to use the energy-saving mode to extract this operating time. There has been no revolutionary change in the charging process, and we can still solve it with a magnetic cable.
The soul of the smartwatch is an Apollo 3.5 chipset, which supports 117 different sports modes, including swimming. The outer casing of the device is waterproof according to the 5ATM rating. Of course, the usual functions such as heart rate or blood oxygen level measurement are not missed, and sleep monitoring is also possible.
Redmi Watch 2 has a built-in navigation system that supports GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo satellites, and GPS satellites. Thanks to the built-in NFC technology, you can also pay by the hour. Despite the larger battery and screen, the device is still lighter by 4 grams, weighing only 31 grams. Customers can choose from three shades, while the TPU strap is available in six different colors.
Redmi Watch 2 is now pre-orderable in China, and shipping will begin on November 11th. The average price of the device is $63, but those who pre-order now can get some discounts.
Redmi Buds 3 Youth Edition
The device in question is an even cheaper version of the previously released Redmi Buds 3 for a younger audience, as its name suggests. The novelty is roughly half the size of AirDots 3 Pro, how Buds 3 Pro became known on the international market. The new earbuds have been given a so-called “cat ear” design designed to make the earphone fit more comfortably and securely in the ear.
According to the manufacturer’s description, the headphones will be capable of 18 hours of operation time (with the battery case), which is not bad at all but still not as impressive as the 28 hours provided by the previous Pro model. The device is still charging via USB-C. It supports Bluetooth 5.2 connections, although the active noise filtering must be canceled this time.
The earbuds have some minimal protection against water. The IP54 rating guarantees that a few drops of rain or sweat will not damage the good electronics of the little things. The Redmi Buds 3 Youth Edition earphones will be available for $16, converted from the local currency.
