Mobile phones with the new Snapdragon processor will be able to charge up to 150 watts

Qualcomm will unveil its new flagship tile set on November 30, which may be released to the public as Snapdragon 898 or Snapdragon 8 Gen1.

The trusted leak, Digital Chat Station, says some of the new chipsets will support 150-watt fast charging in a recent post. However, some are still waiting for these mobiles to arrive because early iterations of the chips aren’t ready for this lightning-fast method.

However, there are already amazingly fast-charging solutions, such as Xiaomi or Motorola / Lenovo. There’s, say, the Mi 10 Ultra: the smartphone, which debuted in mid-2020, has already thrived with 120-watt adapters, while the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro can be powered by 90-watt chargers via its dual USB-C connector. If all is true, both manufacturers will surprise us with new flagships by the end of 2021, but these devices won’t yet support 150-watt fast charging.

Digital Chat Station knows that the second batch of high-end Snapdragon chips to be shipped at the end of 2021 will already support this even faster-charging method, so it can already be applied to premium smartphones launched in the first quarter of 2022. The new technology will allow us to fully charge our phones in just 10 minutes.

Qualcomm’s current standard is called Quick Charge 5, and with so-called “Dual Charge” technology, it can charge a fully discharged device to 50 percent in just 5 minutes. The standard includes 12 different protection solutions for safe operation, and it is expected that the 150-watt fast charge of the new chip will consist of further improvements.
