Finally, WhatsApp reactions arrive: here’s how it works.
WhatsApp now allows you to respond to messages: this is how the app's new reactions, which were previously only available in the beta version, are utilized.
The reactions have finally reached WhatsApp after months of rumors and hints. The current beta version of the app now adds the ability to respond to messages using emoticons, similar to what we’ve seen for a while in apps like Facebook Messenger and Telegram.
Not everyone has access to WhatsApp reactions yet. They’re only available in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.8.3. However, it is believed that they will reach all chat app users in the following days.
WhatsApp now allows you to react to messages with emojis
WABetaInfo has reported on the advent of this feature, which will be available for WhatsApp beta users starting today. Users can choose from six distinct reactions, as shown in the screenshot: Love, Laughter, Surprise, Sadness, and Thank You.
An emoji represent each emotion, and it is unclear whether customization of reactions will be allowed in the future, as in Telegram.
You must long-press on a message bubble and tap on the emoji that represents the reaction to react to it. Once selected, it will appear directly below the messages, visible to all chat participants.
Even if you install WhatsApp’s latest beta version, it’s possible that you won’t be able to view the reaction choices menu. This function will be rolled out in stages so that it won’t be available to all users for a few hours — or days — at a time. Whatever the case may be, the wait is about to end.
