Instagram will require that all videos under 15 minutes be Reels
Instagram announces new things almost every day, and today’s announcement is about Reels, which was born as a rough copy of what TikTok is today. Still, with this change, it could redefine itself and try to eliminate redundancies in the application.
All videos under 15 minutes will be posted as Reels, as we can read on the Instagram blog. While this won’t affect videos that have already been uploaded to the app, it’s clear that Instagram is making a serious effort to increase the popularity of the Reels, which have already seized control of the application in terms of Instagram’s intentions.
Longer videos will still be referred to as Reels, but they will follow slightly different guidelines since only Reels under 90 seconds will gain access to Instagram’s discovery benefits.
