Tom and Jerry will be on the battlefields together, or they have to put their opposites aside now to win. On the official website of Multiverses, you can also look at the characters’ profiles, including Tom and Jerry, whose names are on it. Well, it’s not just Tom and Jerry. Thomas “Jasper” Tom Cat, Sr. and Gerald “Jinx” Jerry Mouse.

Of course, this is not so much news, as the two legendary cartoon heroes Puss Gets the Boot made their debut in the colors of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio as early as 1940. (Dismissal) and originally named Jasper and Jinx from their creators William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, it was only after the short film or serial episode that they decided to rename them. Many people didn’t know that, so the racket stopped in the fans when they saw the official WB Games material.

“It’s quite confusing that Jasper and Jinx are their middle names, as they were just the names of their prototypes at the time. Plus, part of the canon is that their real first names are Thomas and Jerome,” a user wrote on Twitter. “How would Jerry’s name be Gerald? I knew about Jasper and Jinx because those were the names of ‘beta’ for Tom and Jerry. What about Gerald ?!” – puzzled himself another fan as well.

“Bro, are you serious now that Tom and Jerry had full names? What’s the main thing ?!” – it was a “strong” reaction from a third fan. However, some appreciated this authentic tribute to Hanna and Barbera: “Okay, no matter how mixed I feel about this game, but it’s a pretty nice gesture to use the names of Tom and Jerry’s prototypes.” What do you say to the two legendary figures’ names in the Multiverses’ official material? Did you know these?

Multiverses will be available in 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
