Watermarks will now appear on YouTube Shorts videos

It is expected that YouTube Shorts will soon be watermarked, much like TikTok. This will make it more evident that the videos are part of the YouTube short-video platform, noted Alphabet.

Without question, TikTok was the platform that brought short videos to the forefront, but part of its success was due to the watermark that appears when they are shared.

There is no question that you have seen videos from the Chinese platform on other sites such as YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook, allowing the company to spread unpredictably.

YouTube Shorts will begin to mark your videos

Creators of videos with videos less than five minutes long will now be able to take over other creators’ videos and allow their original content to be branded for tremendous success. Watermarks are now being applied to shorts downloaded from YouTube Studio on desktop, but this will be expanded to mobile in the coming months.

YouTube Shorts was launched in India in 2020 before expanding to more than 100 countries last year. After that, I allocated $100 million to pay content providers for videos posted on the new site.

YouTube Shorts has over 1.5 billion registered active users, which is significantly more than TikTok’s 1 billion monthly users.

  • Amazon is testing TikTok-like Feed Style

Amazon is testing TikTok-like Feed Style

The popularity of TikTok has made it possible for other platforms to use its model as a guide. The existence of YouTube Shorts and Reels on Facebook and Instagram serves as evidence for this. Amazon will now follow suit, according to rumors that claim a comparable feature has already been implemented in a test that is only open to a small number of its employees.

Influence from TikTok spreads to Amazon

The world’s largest online retailer is experimenting with new strategies to get visibility and increase sales. A Wall Street Journal story claims that Amazon has been developing a new type of feed in its program that enables users to scroll through images and videos of products submitted by other platform users, like TikTok.

The WSJ lists Watchful Technologies as a source and claims to have followed the Amazon mentioned above feature. Watchful Technologies is an Israel-based AI company that examines apps. A second unnamed source supported the online tabloid’s report that the corporation is testing the feature among a small group of Amazon employees.

The experimental TikTok-like feed, according to Daniel Buchuk, a researcher at Watchful Technologies who the WSJ contacted, primarily displays images in its current format. Buck hypothesizes that if this feature is implemented, this area might contain a lot of movies because the implementation’s purpose is to provide Amazon merchants the option to produce content so they can promote their products in a way that is more enticing to customers.

In the lack of a formal announcement, it is unclear what shape this section will take in the end and when it will be implemented. If the feature will be made available to all of Amazon’s customers was a question the company’s spokeswoman, Alyssa Bronikowski declined to answer for the Wall Street Journal. Later, Bronikowski stated that the business “is continuously exploring new services to help make consumers’ life a little bit easier.

  • Meta is experimenting with a new streaming platform called Super

Meta is experimenting with a new streaming platform called Super

Meta appears to be testing a new streaming network, created exclusively for influencers, under the moniker “Super,” a nondescript word that we hope is a placeholder until a more appropriate name for the platform is found.

In any event, this streaming network will allow influencers to earn money from their live broadcasts, talk with their followers and participate in live activities, similar to what we can find on platforms like Twitch. However, Meta has begun testing the site with a wallet in hand, paying some users up to $3,000 for 30 minutes of service.

According to TechCrunch, Super is a two-year-old isolated experiment carried out by Meta’s NPE (New Product Experimentation) section, which evaluates new business ideas in the form of goods that users may use. This platform is being evaluated with a small group of fewer than 100 creators.

The platform employs a tier system in which viewers must pay to gain access to the features contained in the stream, as well as the ability for viewers to leave tips for the creators, which are fully transferred to them.

  • The world’s first holographic teleportation

    The world’s first holographic teleportation

Although holographic teleportation or holoportation cannot replicate the feeling of a face-to-face meeting, it is unquestionably helpful in connecting people farther apart.

According to a more extended announcement from Canadian Western University, the first expert-led, international, cross-border holographic teleportation was realized. The university’s research team carried out the experiment using software from Aexa Aerospace, a special camera from Microsoft, and the Hololens gadget. The operation’s goal was to bring people far apart in space together to feel as though they were nearby.

According to Adam Sirek, a university colleague, the majority of holoporting-compatible devices are costly, with more sophisticated devices costing up to $5,000, according to information from the institution’s website (or almost two million forints). The experience, however, cannot be compared to modern technologies, like video calling.

However, holographic teleportation still has a drawback in that it requires both parties to wear special headsets to be accomplished. This makes it possible for people to see each other from a distance of several miles or even several hundred kilometres.

  • Researchers have created a material that turns sweat into electricity

Researchers have created a material that turns sweat into electricity

With rare exceptions, the major shortcoming of wearable technology is its lack of energy autonomy. Human perspiration may hold the key to this problem’s solution. Recently, scientists created a biofilm that can capture the energy of evaporation and transform it into electricity.

A Chip that converts sweat into electricity.

This foil, created by researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, has the potential to change the world of wearable electronics by providing power for a wide range of devices, from personal medical sensors to consumer electronics.

The project’s lead researcher, Xiaomeng Liu, describes this solution as “truly green energy and, unlike other so-called ‘green energy sources, its production is completely green.”

This biofilm is made naturally by a modified strain of the bacterium Geobacter sulfurreducens. It is composed of a thin layer of bacterial cells roughly the thickness of a sheet of paper. It has been investigated how to use this bacterium, which is known to create electricity, to electrical power equipment using “microbial batteries.”

Because they require G. sulfurreducens to be adequately cared for and fed a consistent diet, microbial batteries did not succeed as a solution. This novel biofilm is an exception; because it is dead and cannot be powered, it can continually produce as much energy, if not more, than a battery of comparable size.

Distinguished Professor of Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and one of the paper’s lead authors, Derek Lovley, thinks it is “far more effective.” We have streamlined the electricity generation process by drastically lowering the amount necessary for processing. We use the clump of cells after they have grown sustainably in a biofilm. This streamlines operations, lower energy requirements and increases the range of possible uses.

This novel biofilm’s ability to produce energy from skin moisture is its secret. Even though we frequently read articles on solar energy, at least half of the solar energy that reaches the Earth is used to evaporate water. Jun Yao, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at UMass and the other paper’s lead author, asserts that “this is a major untapped energy source.” Since perspiration constantly dampens the surface of our skin, the biofilm can “plugin” and transform the energy locked in evaporation into sufficient energy to run small gadgets.

The key to how this all works is that G. sulfurreducens grows in colonies that resemble thin mats, with each bacterium interacting with its neighbours via a network of natural nanowires, as described in this research paper in Nature Communications. After gathering these mats, the team uses a laser to etch tiny circuits onto the films. The films are recorded, sandwiched between electrodes, and then encapsulated in a flexible, tacky, breathable polymer that may be applied directly to the skin afterwards. This tiny battery can power small devices once it has been “plugged in” to your body.

According to Yao and Liu, one objective is to power complete electronic systems rather than individual gadgets. “Our next step is to increase the size of our films to power more complex electronic devices that can be worn on the skin,” Yao says.

  • 911 Proxy Service Shutdown after allerged phishing attacks

911 Proxy Service Shutdown after allerged phishing attacks

In the wake of a data breach that destroyed crucial elements of its business operations, 911[.]re, a proxy service that since 2015 has sold access to tens of thousands of Microsoft Windows machines every day, announced this week that it is closing down.

KrebsOnSecurity released a thorough analysis of 911 and its ties to dubious pay-per-install affiliate systems that covertly packaged 911’s proxy software with other products, including “free” utilities and illegal malware; the company abruptly closed.

Residential proxy services are frequently promoted to customers looking for a way to get around the primary media streaming services’ country-specific blocking policies. However, some of them, like 911, employ “free VPN” or “free proxy” services driven by software to transform the user’s PC into a traffic relay for other users to build their networks. In this case, consumers receive a free VPN service.

Still, they frequently don’t realize that doing so will turn their machine into a proxy, allowing others to use their Internet address to conduct online transactions.

Early in July, the service was hacked, and it was found that several user accounts’ balances had been altered, according to 911. When customers use the service to make financial deposits, an application programming interface (API) is employed to handle account topping up, according to 911.

According to Riley Kilmer, co-founder of the proxy-tracking website Spur.us, it will be challenging to replicate 911’s network shortly. Kilmer predicted that the remaining competitors to 911 would receive a significant boost shortly but that a new contender would finally emerge.

None of those works well as a substitute for LuxSocks or 911. However, everyone will be able to use them. The attempts to commit fraud will continue through these substitute services, which ought to be simpler to keep an eye on and halt. Some very new IP addresses belonged to 911.

This week, several significant proxy providers disclosed breaches related to unauthenticated APIs, not just 911. On July 28, KrebsOnSecurity revealed that client information for Microleaves, a proxy service that changes its users’ IP addresses every five to ten minutes, had been exposed via internal APIs that were made public on the internet. That research revealed that Microleaves, like 911, has a lengthy history of disseminating its proxy software through pay-per-install programs.

  • The Official Galaxy Z Flip 4 renderings have been leaked

The Official Galaxy Z Flip 4 renderings have been leaked

As we can see in ExtremeTech, it appears that official renderings of Samsung’s upcoming folding clamshell have leaked. As we recently reported, this terminal will have modifications to lower its price, such as using batteries from firms like LG.

According to what we have been able to see in the various certifying organizations for wireless connectivity devices, who have specified at least twice that the presence of a charger with a model specific, we also know that this terminal wants to arrive with a charger.

In this instance, we can see that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be available in four colours, have a dual rear camera system, and have an improved design from the Galaxy Z Flip 3 so that, while there won’t be many changes on the inside, there won’t be many outward changes either. Hopefully, this terminal will be revealed during Samsung’s presentation in August, which is why these renders were created in the first place.

  • Instagram will require that all videos under 15 minutes be Reels

Instagram will require that all videos under 15 minutes be Reels

Instagram announces new things almost every day, and today’s announcement is about Reels, which was born as a rough copy of what TikTok is today. Still, with this change, it could redefine itself and try to eliminate redundancies in the application.

All videos under 15 minutes will be posted as Reels, as we can read on the Instagram blog. While this won’t affect videos that have already been uploaded to the app, it’s clear that Instagram is making a serious effort to increase the popularity of the Reels, which have already seized control of the application in terms of Instagram’s intentions.

Longer videos will still be referred to as Reels, but they will follow slightly different guidelines since only Reels under 90 seconds will gain access to Instagram’s discovery benefits.

  • Linkedin accounts for half of all phishing scams globally

Linkedin accounts for half of all phishing scams globally

In the past, almost all phishing scams were delivered via email. Texts that attempted to trick us into clicking on a malicious link to fill out a form with confidential information that would aid criminals in stealing our property.

The email has declined in popularity over time, and social networks have risen to take its place, with more personalized messages that make it easier to deceive the victim. We may receive a Facebook message that mentions known people, for example, to make the content more realistic or a Linkedin contact who attempts to deceive us somehow.

Indeed, in the first quarter of this year, Linkedin was responsible for 52% of all phishing scams worldwide, indicating that it is one of the preferred channels for cybercriminals.

Given that users can quickly enter personal information on Linkedin, it is obvious why scammers choose this platform. To give the topic more weight, however, many links we receive from other websites point to Linkedin-like websites.

All of the other top 10 businesses are well-known on a global basis. DHL is in second place with 14% of the market, followed by Google with 7%, all of which are well behind Linkedin’s 52%.

Even yet, because the individual who writes them typically does not speak our language or has not had the time to learn it correctly, LinkedIn emails sometimes contain misspellings, poor syntax, and other problems, such as typos.

    • When receiving emails that appear urgent, you should exercise extreme caution because they frequently demand that you change your password due to a problem. When you receive an email with the subject line “URGENT,” you need to take a deep breath and double-check the subject by making phone calls or examining the linked links.
    • Any email that might request personal information from us or directs us to a website that does is automatically suspected of being fraudulent. Remember that con artists are skilled at developing websites resembling Facebook, Linkedin, and other popular websites.
    • Lastly, be wary of email attachments, especially surprise ones, and carefully consider opening them, especially if they seem to be invoices or shipment notifications.
  • Snapchat Web version has arrived

    Snapchat Web version has arrived

With its messaging service, Snapchat, the technological world has seen a before and after. They pioneered the idea of the material that expires and are well known for the entertaining filters we can create with the app and the augmented reality experiences we can utilize in different places all around the world.

With the release of their web version, they are once again making headlines. This was essential for them to be able to cross borders and not rely solely on a mobile device.

With the launch of Snapchat+ in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, web Snapchat will now be available. The plan is to gradually bring it to every country so that any Snapchat user can use the service at web.snapchat.com.

From there, we can log in using our username and password and chat with our friends while keeping the mobile app updated so that the dialogues are always current regardless of the platform being used.

You can use the same web version features as the mobile version, including reactions, responses, and video call-ready lenses. They are working on making it possible to send Snaps from the web version.

They claim to have worked hard to make privacy and security a top concern. When we click to do another job, a privacy screen will be present and cover the Snapchat window.

As with the web version of WhatsApp, Snapchat will enable us to stay in touch with others while performing our daily duties. Working on a big screen is not the same as what many people value.

  • Windows 12: Microsoft intends to release a new version of its operating system every 3 years

Windows 12: Microsoft intends to release a new version of its operating system every 3 years

Microsoft released upgrades twice a year with significant new features and enhancements to keep Windows 10 around for a very long period. However, Windows 11 changed Microsoft’s upgrade strategy, allowing the company to offer a new operating system—at least with a new name. This method may be Microsoft’s new approach for its Windows operating system, as seen in Windows Central.

Microsoft announced that it would switch to a more normal 3-year cycle for the release of new operating systems while continuing to add new capabilities to the one that is already in use.

By adopting this strategy, Windows 12 (also known as Next Valley) would be made available in 2024, three years after Windows 11 was introduced at the end of 2021. In addition to the regular annual upgrades that the corporation releases, it is attempting to offer new updates throughout the year dubbed “Moments.” Microsoft has already implemented this new method by including a weather button on the taskbar.

Therefore, this 3-year cycle to release Windows 12 in 2024 would have been preferred over the rumour to launch a new Windows in 2023. The news planned for Sun Valley 3 will be added to Windows 11 through the “Moments” update system, allowing users to access this and other features without waiting for one of the two significant releases that Windows 10 receives annually.

  • Google Pay vs Facebook Pay: Which app is better?

Google Pay vs Facebook Pay: Which app is better?

More and more programmes are available daily that let you use a mobile app to make payments. This will prevent consumers from using alternative payment methods on the platforms above.

Facebook Pay is an excellent example of this, which is used to enable payments from the Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp apps. There are other platforms as well, such as Google Pay, which functions similarly with the exception that it streamlines the Google platform’s payment procedures.

Differencies between Google Pay and Facebook Pay

Because NFC technology is positively transforming the world, mobile payment solutions are becoming more and more common today. You must select the best approach for you if you want to participate in this type of innovative market. Therefore, you will need to compare the differences between the existing possibilities. The two that are most widely used are Google Pay and Facebook Pay, both of which were developed to make it easier to make purchases on their respective platforms.

Yet the fact that both applications serve the same purpose, they are relatively similar despite having some key variations, such as how payments are processed. The services the client receives that can be cancelled include mailing money, coupons, bonuses, and gift cards—additionally, each platform’s security of payments and the places where this service is offered.

    How to send payments

The method of sending money is one of the most important factors to consider when contrasting these two platforms. You can use Google Pay by visiting the main Facebook page or installing the mobile app, as is the case with this particular service.

The Facebook Pay icon will automatically display once you enter your account information and select “Account settings” from the right menu. After setting up the payment system with the appropriate data for your debit or credit card, you may begin sending money.

    Gift cards, coupons, and vouchers

One of these two applications’ peculiarities is that users of Google Pay can obtain a gift or loyalty cards. It will make it possible to make purchases and add money to the account without using a credit or debit card. This usually works to their advantage for those who don’t already have bank accounts and can’t register some of the payment options.

Similarly, you can use Visa, Mastercard, or American Express with the Facebook Pay app. Additionally, it gives consumers the choice of using gift cards. As a result, making local payments may be done in a few easy steps, making it easier to sell and buy goods and services on this platform.

Payment security in Google Pay and Facebook Pay

The payment security systems on both platforms are excellent; however, they can differ slightly. Payments made with Google Pay are always secure before, throughout, and after each transaction. One of the main benefits is that all data and information will be kept safe. Additionally, no electronic attacks of any type will be able to harm the numbers associated with your virtual account.

You can add a PIN unlock or verify screen lock settings with Google Pay. Users can feel secure using this software because of this security safeguard since the patterns or fingerprints add a layer of security while using a mobile device to pay or charge for services.

Due to a full verification service, the Facebook Pay platform is also incredibly secure. Consequently, your information will be saved without any risk. You should be aware that when you make a purchase, the app will record your information and display adverts for goods similar to what you bought.

Countries that don’t support Google Pay and Facebook Pay

You only need to download the app and register for a Play Store account to utilise Google Pay. Please note that this software may not be accessible in all nations or areas. So, from the American, European, or Asian continents, you can make a payment for services and websites.

    • United States
    • India
    • Singapore

You must reside in the United States, India, or Singapore to use Google Pay on an iPhone or iPad. If you do not live in one of the listed nations, you will have to wait since the platform is working to make the app accessible in a lot more locations worldwide.

You can utilise Facebook Pay from any location where Facebook has support. This software is used in Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. You should also be aware that support for Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger is being implemented gradually. As a result, using Facebook Pay in other platform-related applications may not be possible in some nations.

Is Google Pay or Facebook Pay better for money management?

Both of these applications are a great choice because they make it easy and quick to make payments online. Additionally, one benefit these two programmes have in common is that they have very high levels of commercial acceptance in the many online retailers worldwide.

You can test out both alternatives and learn about each feature to determine which way is ideal for you. You won’t be able to determine which platform best meets your goals and requirements unless you do this.

  • NFT Digital Collections joins Facebook

    NFT Digital Collections joins Facebook

After introducing support for NFT on Instagram in May, this innovation is now being expanded to Facebook. Meta now supports this digital collection on its primary social network, the first for many artists.

Facebook began rolling out NFT support.

Meta stated that one of its upcoming steps would be to expand this experience to Facebook as well after the introduction of NFTs on Instagram. The same thing happened when the moment arrived. First-level deployment is only available to a few number of invited creators.

Navdeep Singh, the product manager for Meta, posted screenshots of Facebook’s support for digital collectibles on his Twitter account.

According to Singh’s screenshots, posting NFTs to a profile’s timeline is possible. Information about the digital collectable will be displayed when you click on it, like its creator and collection.

Users of Facebook will eventually be able to link their digital currency wallets to their profiles. No further information was provided at this time. However, it is assumed that it will be possible to use Ethereum, Polygon, Flow, and Solana, as with Instagram. The NFTs can also be converted into Facebook posts through this instance, allowing users to respond to, comment on, and share them.

These distinctive blockchain coins that signify digital asset ownership are already being implemented as a new crucial feature in Meta social networks. They were the focus of a strong surge at its creation and criticism divided between fans and detractors today.
